Resolved Question: What is a "Linksys"?

Okay so I have 2 questions so your gonna have to tell me in Dummy terms cause I can't speak with all smart with things that have to do with technology? Okay. My Laptop says it supports linksys and it has a strong signal in my computer. but what is it and what does it do? Is it like Wi-Fi? 2.
